I haven't written in this blog for quite some time because I didn't really know what to write. I am on SecondLife on and off, but unfortunately navigating real life has been my priority .
Over 2021 through to present, I've been on Secondlife intermittently. My friends come and go, and the majority of my long-term friends are either not online or rarely online when I am. Secondlife seems to have made it increasingly difficult to find communities of people, removing old places of interest, info hubs and other hangout spots the older generation of SL users are attuned with.
I've sim-hopped a lot during the past two years, finding new sandboxes, clubs, artistic places for photos and general 'spots', but it sometimes seems like the people inworld are less and less chatty with strangers, or take offense when you send a random instant message. Some of my favorite aspects of this world have deteriorated over time, and communities I interacted with either dwindled to nothing, or no longer exist.
To keep myself occupied in the virtual spaces, I've continued to learn programs to create digital content. I'd love to someday re-open my marketplace shop, but the technology is developing faster than I can grasp.
Overall, what this says to me is that I need to change my approach when using Secondlife; I'm finding this to be a hard pivot to make. I'll guess I'll have to see what lies in store for my future using this virtual world. The light seems to be dimming.
