I've been prancing around Secondlife the past month looking for new places to visit, mostly for photography, and occasionally chatting with new users. I've met at least 10 new people over the past four days and I find that somewhat promising. It's been a long while of nobody online, and with this real world quarantine that most people are in, it's refreshing to see new face on SecondLife that may need a helping hand getting started, or just want to have casual conversation without attempting to troll others like most new users in the past would make their SL mission.
It's interesting to me the amount of discourse that some individuals try so hard to bring to Secondlife. I'm not sure if it's generational, or simply an attracted demographic of people who want to make others miserable, but it's out of hand in some public sims and I won't waste my time with it much longer.
I've found comfort in finding niche places to visit that have friendly people who actually want to converse and make friends. I think I already said it was refreshing in a sense that I don't have to listen to people bicker at each other constantly on SL. A positive change in my own SL I guess, since I'm actively avoiding those types of interactions and avoiding rewarding those types of people for that gross behavior.
I think it's the adult in me. 10-years ago Markiz would put up with anything in SL. Present day me refuses to waste my time in such a manner. Go figure.
Anyway. I've started a new secondlife project to keep me actively coming online and it's also encouraging me to visit more simulators I've never seen before. It's been nice. I hope your SL has been nice too.
